Gorge Vale Golf Club
Must be a guest of a member as of 2020
Just 10 minutes from downtown you will find the NEW Gorge Vale Golf Club. Over the past two years Gorge Vale has undergone some major renovations, not that it was not a premier private club before. Gorge Vale is a beautifully kept semi private course offering the golfer a challenging par 72, 18-hole course with hilly terrain and tall standing trees. The course plays long with sand bunkers in play on every hole requiring accurate shot making for a good score. A naval cemetery set in the golf course provides an aesthetic backdrop and obstacle on the difficult 12th hole with no less than 8 bunkers. This is truly a superb choice for those who want to play a superb championship course in the late morning or afternoon, but have limited time, as it is close to downtown, and as a private club, the pace of play is fast when compared to some of the other public courses. Ask a Golf Central representative if Gorge Vale might be a good choice for you.

A beautiful championship course rated in the top thirty five in Canada, amidst a dense lush North Pacific evergreen forest. Gardens abound the challenging 18 holes with many lakes, rock outcroppings, and even a few waterfalls. Each hole has a personality of its own, making for an exciting game that favours no specific shot, other than accuracy due to the tightness of some of the fairways. The signature hole, is the 417 yard 17th. Playing downhill from the tee, the hole descends towards a natural waterfall that provides a dramatic backdrop. The Olympic View practice facility is the finest in Western Canada. Its natural grass tees, chipping bunkers and five target greens make for a realistic practice environment. Length from the Blue tees is 6530, with a slope of 133 and a rating of 72.0. This course is perfect for the golfer not minding tighter lies, and smaller target areas, along undulating fairways. This is a must play while visiting Victoria.

Uplands Golf Club
Value: $165.00 Peak: $185.00
Located in the prestigious Uplands area only a short distance from downtown Victoria, this beautifully maintained par 70 course has a gorgeous new club house with all the amenities. The fairways are lush, with some very challenging greens. The club house offers a terrific view set amongst the evergreens in which the golf course was cut out from. The way to score well at Uplands is to stay out of the trees and choose a weapon to keep you out of the fountainous lakes which line three of the fairways. From the Blue tees Uplands plays a fairly long 6315 yards, with a slope of 120 and a rating of 69.9. Usually a favorite to those with a straight drive, as the majority of the fairways lend themselves to those without either a fade or a draw. Available afternoons only.

The Pebble Beach of the North has been used to describe the beautiful setting of the Victoria Club. As one of the oldest golf courses in Canada it has a rich tradition. The course layout is that of a British links yet the fairways are immaculate set amongst the bunberry bushes. The tricky greens and gusty winds can make any golfer weak in the knees. The course is a par 70 providing some of? the best views the Pacific Ocean has to offer, with tees boxes right out on the rocks of the coastline. The club house is spectacular, and suits the standards the course warrants.? From the Blue tees Victoria measures 6015 yards with a slope of 125 and a rating of 68.8. If price and early tee times aren?t a great factor, this is great choice. Bring a camera! Victoria Golf Club... truly a jewel among the many fine golf clubs in British Columbia... a magnificent golf course with a history to match, which opens for play more than any other club in Canada. Established in 1893, Victoria Golf Club is the oldest golf club in Canada on its original site. The club is located on the most southerly tip of Vancouver Island, facing the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The course is 100 acres of beautiful seaside property in the Municipality of Oak Bay. The club consists of some 1400 golfing and social members. The Clubhouse of 35,000 square feet was completely renovated and updated in 1993.
