The Resort

Between games, enjoy the view from the Terrace with a cocktail or craft beer and great food from Velocity Lounge.

The Course

Designed by the renowned Graham Cooke, this 18-hole, par 71 resort-style course spans 6299 yards. Recently rebuilt in 2017, this innovative course seeks to make golf accessible and entertaining for players of all skill levels.

Velocity Driving Range offers an immersive virtual golf experience for beginners to seasoned golfers. This one-of-a-kind driving range is powered by cutting-edge technology from Toptracer, designed to help you elevate your game. Whether you want to play games like Go Fish or tee off virtually at St. Andrew’s old course, there’s something for everyone.

Exploring the golf courses in La Paz, Mexico was recommended by our long-standing clients from Washington State and the golf course did not disappoint. El Cortez is a two-hour drive north of Los Cabos, located on the Sea of Cortez. The city is 40 feet above sea level making the climate ideal for hot, dry days and cool nights.

The Course & Club

El Cortes Golf Club opened in 2018 and is the country’s first Gary Player Signature golf course. The layout has dramatic elevation changes highlighted with stands of cacti and has a unique “desert-by-the-sea” feel. The course is challenging but will appeal to a wide range of skill levels with elevated tees, wide fairways, and approachable greens. El Cortes Golf Club’s par-5 14th is one of the most memorable holes since it requires an accurate shot to a fairway situated 200 feet below (see photo), it is the most intimidating tee shot on the golf course. The course features a mix of long par 4s, short par 3s, and risk-reward par 5s, all designed to challenge golfers to use a variety of clubs and strategies.

El Cortes Golf Club is a must play, whether it’s a day trip from Los Cabos or a few nights’ stay at Hotel Indigo and Beach Club that re-opened in 2024 after an extensive renovation. Hotel Indigo is an IHG hotel’s Luxury collection equipped with spa-like bathrooms, large balconies with panoramic views of the golf course, and the Sea of Cortez. The hotel has 3 restaurants and world-class marina and other fine dining restaurants steps away from the resort.

If staying a couple of days in Puerta Cortez, Paraiso del Mar is La Paz’s first golf course that is surrounded by miles of unspoiled beaches located ½ hour from the resort community. It’s another 18-hole championship golf course and rated one of the best golfing outings in the Baja.

Golf Central Tours has New Owners!

Established in 1996…

For 28 years, the duo Steven Tyler “rocked” Golf Central, and this summer, they passed the torch onto new owners, “Stevie Nicks”. After some Tyler training, “young” Steve has been fully immersed in Golf Central Tours and is ready to fly solo!

A little bit about Stevie…

What you’ll quickly learn about Steve is that he’s a consummate sports fanatic. There isn’t a player from any sport that he doesn’t know by name or the team they play or played on. He has a natural ability to call a play or comment on a play before the announcer does. But…out of all the sports he follows, his favourite is golf. Steve started his career working as an assistant superintendent at Sunnydale Golf Club in Courtenay. He soon realized that the love for greens didn’t quite pay the bills, so he went on to graduate from BCIT. He worked as Project Manager for luxury home builders in Whistler and Nanaimo for over 20 years before realizing that he needed to be involved in something that he would be truly passionate about. He sought a role that would connect people and complement his social personality, and after training with Tyler for just 2 days, Steve knew that Golf Central Tours would be the perfect fit.

 A little bit about Nicole (Nicks)….

Nicole started her career in the family’s manufacturing business, Neff Kitchens. Over 12 years of working alongside her father, they sold the business that still bears his name. She moved to Northern Ontario to start a grassroots modular construction company, Bay Builders. The unwelcoming market tested her perseverance in construction when her first build made front page news capturing the title “Measure twice, build once”, the photo showing the foundation that was 6” too short. Although it was an architectural oversight, she fought back and won “Builder of the Year” four years in a row. After constructing 50+ homes over 8 years, she decided to relocate to BC to be closer to family. At Golf Central, Nicole works behind-the-scenes on marketing, communications, and business development. She loves researching new golf destinations and opportunities and is a food critic in Victoria. You’ll also sometimes find her at the wheel of your golf shuttle!

A New Era

As new owners, we are proud to continue Tyler’s legacy of providing excellent service and unparalleled travel experiences for his clients. We look forward to meeting new golfers, welcoming back returning clients, and leaving no stone unturned in the search for excellent BC golf destinations!
